todd, the waitress and the englishman

toddpage and i went to the huntington theatre to see their new show, how shakespeare won the west. beforehand, we ate at a tasty little resto next door, betty's wok & noodle. while there the camera came out and i made a few images (including this one, seen in my friends set on flickr). as we were finishing up, an english couple of certain ages came in to vet the menu. the absence of meaningful fish dishes led them to leave, but while they were with us i wanted to get a shot of the man (his wife's back was always to me and she had nothing to say; he was plenty chatty for both, as our waitress discovered). initially, i was using todd as a beard, but i soon realized that he and the waitress made for much more interesting images.

the show at the huntington? well-acted, nice sets, terrible book. the whole spectacle was saved by juliet's unique interaction with romeo, and even that was almost obliterated by the giant horse.
