a couple of nights back, todd/[livejournal.com profile] toddpage and i went to the huntington theatre to see their new show, how shakespeare won the west. beforehand, we ate at a tasty little resto next door, betty's wok & noodle. while there the camera came out and i made a few images (including this one, seen in my friends set on flickr). as we were finishing up, an english couple of certain ages came in to vet the menu. the absence of meaningful fish dishes led them to leave, but while they were with us i wanted to get a shot of the man (his wife's back was always to me and she had nothing to say; he was plenty chatty for both, as our waitress discovered). initially, i was using todd as a beard, but i soon realized that he and the waitress made for much more interesting images.

the show at the huntington? well-acted, nice sets, terrible book. the whole spectacle was saved by juliet's unique interaction with romeo, and even that was almost obliterated by the giant horse.

How many cameras is the Englishman wearing? He looks like he's ready to shoot anything--celebrities, crime, war.

I haven't been to Betty's in years, but I have always enjoyed it. I'm glad it's still in business.

Excellent series, I was wondering if we'd see these.

HAHA. Never better said.

Also, I love yesterdays photo [and the day before also, but yesterdays is especially long-exposure-tastic]

he was pretty weighted with photo apparatus, and in search of cod.

It's really a shame that so far as I am aware, Todd has no interest in acting. He really has the most wonderfully expressive face.

A delight. thank you.

thanks! there's an additional pic, but it's almost identical to one of these. i quite like the portrait of you (also mentioned in this post). i really like shooting at the table (as evidenced, recently, by the l.s.o.h. cafe of india images).

by yesterday i assume you mean the tent. it captivated me, and i spent at least five minutes trying to find the image i wanted. i pat myself on the back for these low-light images with which i have a crappy camera and no tripod. if nothing else, i'm learning how to stand very still (good for hunting wabbits, too!).

I saw it this morn, and like it s'well, I'm quite Cheshire-Cat-ish.

Haha, s'true, but there is no issue there, really.

I do indeed. I pat yourself on the back too, and they look lovely.

Standing still is something that you get used to in this field, I've noticed.

Cod is not something I normally search for in restaurant dining. I hope their search was ultimately successful, for everyone's sake.

I would love that! I hate having my photo taken, but you have a good eye, would love to see what you get out of it.

Well hopefully we will someday find ourselves in the same city. And you will not find me too ugly.

cool.
and i'm certain i won't find you ugly at all.
and even if i didn't find you attractive, i make images all the time of people and places i don't find attractive, but which are compelling and speak to me. conventionally beautiful or not, a person or place which grabs me gets the full treatment.
that said, i don't think ugly will be in my reading of you.
