on tuesday, california's electorate added the following to the constitution:
sec. 7.5. only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in california.
in the interest of the compelling public policy goals of the voters of the golden state, may i submit that the following be added to the constitution at the next general election:
sec. 7.6. marriage is regarded by the state of california to be indissoluble, constituting a lifetime bond and contract which may not be broken other than by death.
consistency in the argument of those who supported prop. 8 demands nothing less.

I don't know where to start with what I have to say about the passage of Prop. 8 in CA, my native state. I get so outraged every time I think about it. May citizens there, including all the 18,000 or so gay and lesbian married couples, fight this through *every* accessible legal venue, no matter what the ultimate outcome is...

This makes me absurdly happy, as I said.

So well said.
